To address this priority, Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst recently completed an Energy Readiness Resiliency Exercise, also known as a “pull-the-plug” exercise, on Nov. 19, 2020.

As COVID-19 hit the world by storm in 2020, 24-year-old U.S. Air Force Capt. Alexander Godwin, 87th Medical Group chief of pharmacy services, was on the frontlines prepared to bear the incoming pandemic.

Godwin serves as one of the leading minds tackling the COVID-19 operations at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J.

One cold early morning, Jan. 11, 2021, U.S. Air Force 1st Lt. Terryanne Barbour was leaving her house to go workout.

This was a part of her daily routine before starting her work day as a physician assistant for the 87th Healthcare Operations Squadron on Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J. However, this morning would prove to be far from routine as Barbour would face a situation unlike any she had faced in her career.

Female defenders of the 87th Security Forces Squadron received the first batch of Aspetto ‘Mach-V’ body armor, in early May 2021. The female body armor features increased mobility, load carriage support, and comfort while still maintaining coverage of vital organs for female defenders.

On May 5, 2021, Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst was selected to host a Department of Defense STARBASE, a five-week, full-time Science, Technology, Engineering and Math academy that complements at-risk students’ education with “hands-on, minds-on” learning.

 On Jun. 16, 2021, U.S. Air Force Col. Wes Adams assumed command of Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst and the 87th Air Base Wing. Adams is joined by his wife, Misty, son, daughter, and a yellow labrador retriever.

Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst is home to a variety of teams, all with different missions. One such team is the Infinity Spark Innovation Lab, a center for service members to explore ideas, gain resources and support to improve their work centers and career fields.

The Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst community celebrated a monumental milestone for the installation as it welcomed its first KC-46A Pegasus to its new home in an arrival ceremony Nov. 9, 2021. The event marked the beginning of new total force aerial refueling operations at the joint base, making it the first and only joint base with KC-46 lead operations.

The 305th Air Mobility Wing collaborated with the 60th AMW and 436th Airlift Wing to host a new three-week, hands-on Tactics Advancement Course from Jan. 10-28. The course is designed to strengthen and advance combat aviation skills of C-17 Globemaster III aircrew members assigned to the 305th Operations Support Squadron, 6th Airlift Squadron, 3rd AS and 21st AS.

The 305th Maintenance Group hosted Atlantic County Economic Alliance, Federal Aviation Administration, and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University representatives on Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J., Jan. 26, 2022, to discuss and foster the growth and development of an Aviation Training Academy of the Future.

 The 305th Air Mobility Wing held a change of command ceremony July 14, here. U.S. Air Force Col. Elizabeth Hanson assumed command of the 305th Air Mobility Wing from Col. Scott Wiederholt, 305th AMW commander. Maj. Gen. Kenneth Bibb Jr., 18th Air Force commander, acted as the presiding officer for the ceremony.

The 305th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron partnered with the 305th Aerial Port Squadron to host a two-day Multi-Capable Airman course on Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J. from Sept. 19 to 20, 2022. The course utilized instructors from the 305th APS to train C-17 Globemaster crew chiefs in aerial port hard skills that they can use within a deployed environment.
